Design and Build in Nigeria: 7 Steps From Idea to Finished Home

Design and Build in Nigeria: 7 Steps From Idea to Finished Home

Building a home in Nigeria can feel risky. Stories of abandoned sites, poor workmanship and rising costs are common. Much of that risk comes from one problem: the architect, engineer, surveyor and builder work separately and nobody is accountable for the whole project.

A design-and-build approach puts planning, engineering, construction and supervision under one team. Here is how the process works.

The 7 steps

1. Consultation. We discuss your vision, land, budget and timeline. Book a free consultation to start.

2. Site survey and assessment. Surveying and consultancy confirm the boundaries, levels and soil conditions before design begins. See our consultancy and survey service.

3. Architectural design. You can pick a ready-made plan or commission a custom design. Our architectural design work produces construction-ready drawings.

4. Structural engineering. Engineers design the foundation, columns, beams and slabs so the building is safe and built to last.

5. Costing and planning. You receive a clear scope, a schedule and a budget before the first block is laid.

6. Construction. Skilled tradesmen build to the drawings using durable materials. Learn more about our construction and building service.

7. Supervision and handover. Quality control, procurement and site coordination continue until handover. This is the core of our project management service.

Most residential projects take between 6 and 14 months from design to completion, depending on size and scope.

How to check any builder before you pay

Whoever you choose, do these checks:

Why one team makes a difference

When one team owns the design and the build, there is no blame game between professionals. Changes are coordinated, costs stay visible and quality is checked at every stage. We deliver projects across Nigeria from our base in Enugu State, and our team travels for on-site supervision.
